Rules

1. Submission Deadline

All project submissions must be submitted by Sunday, September 15th, 6:00 PM EST. Late submissions will not be accepted.

2. Team Composition

Teams can consist of 1-5 members. You are encouraged to form teams with participants from your local meetup or connect with others online via spatial Personas.

3. Original Work

All projects submitted must be original and developed during the hackathon. Pre-existing code or assets are allowed, provided they are clearly documented in your submission and do not constitute the majority of the project. You’ll be disqualified from winning a prize if you submit a pre-existing project.

4. Use of Technology

You are free to use any programming language, framework, or tool. However, projects must be compatible with visionOS or WebXR.

5. Presentation

Each team must prepare a demo video (5 minutes max) showcasing their project. This can include a walkthrough explanation of the technologies used.

6. Judging Criteria

Projects will be judged based on the following criteria:

Innovation: How unique and creative is the solution?

Technical Complexity: How well is the technology implemented?

Design and Usability: How intuitive and user-friendly is the project?

7. Remote and In-Person Participation

Whether participating remotely or in person, all participants are expected to collaborate effectively and make use of Discord, Zoom, & spatial Personas. In-person participants should respect the physical workspace, and remote participants should be mindful of time zones and online etiquette.

8. Submission Requirements

Teams will select a Team Leader to submit on behalf of the team.

You may only submit to one of the major prize categories, and you can submit as many projects as the time allows.

Submissions must include:

• Project name and description.

• Team members.

• A demo video.

• Any additional documentation or instructions needed to run the project.

Recommended but optional:

• TestFlight link.

• Link to GitHub repo.

• A presentation (Keynote, Google Slides, Figma).

9. Prizes

Winners will be announced following the submission deadline, after the judges have reviewed all projects. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams based on the judging criteria.

You are only eligible to win one prize.

10. Help and Mentorship

Mentors will be available throughout the event via Discord. Don’t hesitate to reach out for guidance, technical help, or advice.

11. Deposit & Community Prize

Upon submission of your project, you may opt to receive the $25 registration deposit returned or contribute it to the Community Prize pool. If you do not submit a project, your registration deposit will automatically go towards the Community Prize pool.

12. XR Demoparty App

Participants in the "XR Demoparty" category can opt to include their project in a free demo app published by XR.vc on the App Store. Open-source licensing is encouraged but not required.

Opting in grants Vision Hack and XR.vc rights to publish the work in the app, while participants retain rights for independent use. Inclusion is voluntary and doesn't affect prize eligibility.
